Before television, families would visit each other and converse about matters current and past. A form of oral history and as young person in the late forties, I was captured by the stories told during our family visits.Reading this book was a revelation into the events that encompassed many years of the town were I was born and raised. I can personally verify a number of stories the author has portrayed. Additionally, I discovered so much more information about "The Biggest Little City in the World".This book was a delight to read.
The writing is not great. It's good. The topic is great fun, and the level of detail and research is spot on. I found this to be an easy, fast read. It puts Reno in a different light, so if you are going on Vacation, it might be fun to see what's left of this history (like Las Vegas, Reno is always reinventing itself, tearing down the old and putting up the new.)

Enjoyed the book very much . Brings to life the people made Reno what it is
knowing so many people in the book, it was like a trp back home
If you are interested in Reno, present and past, Al Moe is your guy. He really tells it as it is, pulling no punches.
The book started out good but became a little boring. I would have liked to have the author relate the people to current day.
To much detail that is not always factual...and at the same time brings areas not in Reno, like Lake Tahoe....
